Prudential appoints McGarth as its chairman

Prudential has appointed the former chief executive of Man Group Harvey McGarth as chairman.

The former chairman and chief executive of Man Group in London is to join the board of Pru on September 1, succeeding Sir David Clementi.

On his appointment McGarth, also chairman of the London Development agency, says: “I am excited at the prospect of joining Prudential. The company has a rare combination of both a proud heritage and an extremely exciting future.”

Pru group chief executive Mark Tucker says McGarth will bring great insight and experience to the board as it pursues its international strategy.

He says: “I am very pleased that Harvey has accepted the position of chairman and very much look forward to working with him. He is an outstanding talent with proven leadership expertise in the complexities of the international financial services industry.”

Former chairman Sir David Clementi says he is delighted that the board has appointed McGrath to assume the chair.
