Pru posts small rise in business

Prudential saw only slight growth in 1998 with group total new business up 1.89 per cent on 1997 to £1.19 bn.


New business was 13 per cent up on 1997 at £785m which Prudential attributes to a strong performance from IFA channels.


World-wide regular premiums remained unchanged at £468 m before the impact of foreign currency movements. Sales of world-wide single premiums were up 7 per cent to £7.2 bn.


Group chief executive Sir Peter Davis says: &#34Against a backdrop of economic uncertainty in international markets, 1998&#39s new business figures are a credible performance which reflect the benefits of our ongoing strategy both in the UK and overseas.&#34
