Pru annuity director changes role

Prudential director of pensions and annuities Karin Brown has seen her role made redundant but has been appointed to a new position within the business as a retirement income actuary.

Brown will continue to develop the firm’s annuity pricing strategy while her other responsibilities will be split between head of business development for retirement income Vince Smith-Hughes and head of proposition development and market strategy Athole Smith.

A spokesman says: “Brown will continue to develop our pricing strategy for annuities while working closely on product development and the management of our existing retirement income portfolio of products. This is a hands-on role integrating pricing and product management.”

Money Marketing revealed earlier this month that Aegon had made head of annuity sales Mark Cardy redundant.

Annuity development manager Jeremy Haines, who was looking to be redeployed within Aegon after his role was also axed, has now left the firm.

In March, Aegon head of operations for at retirement Nichol Weatherston joined Xafinity Paymaster after being made redundant.
