Proportion of upheld pensions complaints down

The Pensions Ombudsman Dr Julian Farrand today publishes his report for the year ending 31 March 2001, the last of his seven year tenure ending on 31 August 2001.

The report identifies continuing high productivity of over 600 cases investigated and determined in a reduced average time of under 5 months per case an unrelated drop in the percentage of complaints upheld from 49 per cent to 39 per cent.

Common topics of complaint include early retirement pensions, ill-health benefits and schemes in wind-up.
