Prime motivation

As many mortgage advisers have already left or are thinking of leaving the mortgage market due to the credit crunch, we are bucking the trend with our current recruitment campaign and are looking nationwide for more mortgage advisers to join us.

Over the last nine years, IFS has developed a very successful business model and we are keen to increase our num-bers to cope with the leads available due to the amount of advisers that have given up the fight.

We concentrate primarily on the prime remortgage market and, with the help of a training module especially devised for experienced advisers, we have built a team of 15 focused and professional advisers.

We have taken on 10 advisers in the past six months and are aiming to grow to 30 advisers in the shorter term and up to 50 as a longer-term aim.

It saddens me to see more and more despondent, qualified advisers leaving the industry due to adverse trading conditions imposed by the credit crunch. Many of these advisers had worked for companies that specialised in purchases and/or the adverse market and this is where we have always differed.

We have doubled our number of appointed representatives in the last three months and are currently enjoying a very busy time despite the market.

However, we would like more experienced mortgage advisers with a proven track record to join our team.

One of our newly appointed advisers who was about to leave the industry after a bad experience with a network says: “I was ready to quit as I had been with a network and had not had any commission for six months but in my first two months with IFS, I have earned more than I earned in the previous six months.”

We work on the basis that our advisers work with us, not for us. It is a business ethic that runs throughout the company and it seems to be working very well.

All our appointed representatives are self-employed and get full admin support, including compliance, professional indemnity and ongoing training with regular incentives.

We take best advice and treating customers fairly very seriously and pride ourselves on the amount of referrals and repeat business we enjoy. The fact that we are a whole of market broker helps vastly as more and more clients are looking for this type of service.

With over 40 years experience within the financial services industry between the partners, fortunately, our business model seems to be carrying us through the storm.
