Pre-Budget – Growth of 3-3.5 percent predicted

The UK economy will grow at between 3 and 3.5 per cent in 2005 says Chancellor Gordon Brown.

In his pre-Budget report today Brown said public spending will rise to 579bn in 2007-08, 607bn in 2008-09 and 634bn in 2009-10. Public borrowing now stands at 34.3 per cent of GDP, a better ratio than the US or Germany, said Brown
