Portman orchestrates new deal

Portman Building Society is backing the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in a new three-year sponsorship deal for worth £200,000.

Chief executive Robert Sharpe says the society&#39s first sponsorship deal with the orchestra, which began in 1998, has delivered on the many objectives set at that time.

Sharpe says: “This has resulted in the Portman brand image being promoted widely throughout our operating area and the society&#39s involvement with the community being significantly enhanced.”

The partnership will continue to provide Portman with corporate hospitality opportunities.

It also hopes to achieve a higher profile through a number of initiatives that will be launched when the sponsorship deal begins in January 2001.

These include an access scheme to enable socially disadvantaged groups to attend concerts, the Portman Prize, an annual training bursary for musicians who makes an outstanding contribution, an educational wall chart and a charity concert.

Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra chairman Colin Patrick says: “I am delighted Portman has renewed its support as corporate benefactor.”
