Portman is closing four branches as part of its annual review of the branch network due to a decline in usage and failure to improve sales performance over the last year.
The branches to close are in Devon, West Sussex and Wiltshire while five other branches that were under review will be retained. There will be no compulsory redundancies as a result of the closures.
Portman group development director Matthew Wyles says: The closure of a branch is always a last resort and I can assure you that these decisions have not been taken lightly. We have a responsibility, however, to our entire membership and unprofitable branches directly impact on our ability to provide the highly competitive products our members have every right to expect.
