Polar Capital has bolstered its technology team with the appointment of Nick Evans as a senior fund manager.
Evans had been at Axa Framlington, where he managed the group’s £63m glo-bal technology fund which delivered top-quartile performance over three and five years, before resigning in July. He also ran the AWF Framlington global tech fund.
Before joining Axa Framlington in 2000, he spent three years at Hill Samuel Asset Management.
As senior fund manager at Polar, Evans will work on the group’s technology investment trust, which is currently managed by Ben Rogoff.
The fund was previously managed by Brian AshfordRussell, the man who, in tandem with Tim Woodley, launched Polar Capital in 2000. The pair had managed Henderson Global Investors’ technology funds.
Evans will also provide support on the technology absolute return fund and the Dublin-based global tech Oeic.
Chief executive officer Mark Kary says: “We are delighted that Nick has decided to join us. The decision to recruit him is part of our strategy to invest further in our technology unit ahead of what we believe will be a very compelling multi-year per-iod of outperformance in the asset class.”
