PMI site compares plans from all firms

Financial services comparison web site is setting up a supermarket comparing all the private medical insurance policies on the market.

The Mortgage 2000owned portal says it is in talks with networks and national IFAs about providing connections to advisers and their web-sites from

The company says that, given the range of products available, many customers will be nervous before making their decision on which provider to choose.

Talks are in progress with major IFAs which it hopes will lead the way for a click through service for customers which helps potential clients find IFAs in their area who can give them PMI advice.

The website says it has every PMI provider and more than 840 policies for users to choose from and can show how much the premiums for individuals can vary enormously for policies that offer different levels of cover.

Chief executive Simon Nixon says: “There is no doubting that more and more people are looking to help themselves instead of relying on the National Health Service. However, customers simply do not realise how many policies are available.

“Our aim is to help people arrange cover for themselves and if that inc-ludes taking advice, then we will help them arrange that too.”
