F&C multi-manager co-head Richard Philbin is leaving the company after seven years to join Axa.

Management of the multi-manager range will be taken over by Dean Cheeseman who joined F&C in November.

Hargreaves Lansdown investment manager Ben Yearsley says: “F&C has a strong multi-manager range but having lost Richard and Tom Caddick to LV= last year, it is a good job that they appointed Dean as they would have been short.”

Philbin is likely to be chief investment officer of Axa’s new investment business which will be run by chief executive Mike Kellard.
