PFS honours Mike Morrison with lifetime achievement award

The Personal Finance Society has given its lifetime achievement award this year to veteran pension guru Mike Morrison, who sadly passed away on 6 November.

The prestigious award was announced yesterday at the annual PFS awards ceremony.

Morrison gained the respect of the industry through a number of roles in his 30 years working in the profession at companies including Winterthur Life, Axa Wealth and, most recently, as head of platform technical at AJ Bell.

He was well known to advisers as the face of AJ Bell’s financial planning roadshows.

PFS chief executive Keith Richards says: “Everyone at the Personal Finance Society was shocked and saddened to hear the news about one of the profession’s best known and most respected experts on anything and everything pension technical.

“Mike was a most welcome and highly regarded speaker at our events across the country, and could always be relied upon to deliver business-relevant CPD in his uniquely impactful and humorous style.

“I am honoured to have known and worked with him and we are proud to bestow this lifetime achievement award for his contribution to the personal finance profession and the public we serve. A gentleman and professional who will be dearly missed.”

Other winners on the night included Jacksons Wealth Management adviser Pete Matthew, for his work in financial education through his Meaningful Money podcast.
