Peter Graham (pictured) has taken over from Bernie Hickman as managing director of Legal & General’s individual protection business with effect from today.
Hickman is moving into the role of finance and capital management director in L&G’s annuities business, as tipped in Money Marketing in May.
Hickman started at L&G as a protection actuary in 2000, before becoming protection director in July 2005, overseeing pricing and product development in individual protection. In September 2006, Hickman became managing director of the protection business.
He has also chaired the Association of British Insurers’ protection development committee since 2008.
Graham, a former chief executive at esure and Towergate, has 15 years management experience within the insurance market. He moves to the protection role from the role of managing director of L&G’s general insurance business.
The management team that has worked with Hickman will stay in place to ease Graham’s transition into the protection division.
L&G has also appointed Nick Frankland as sales and marketing director for protection. Frankland joins the company from Lloyds Banking Group where he was responsible for integrating the bank’s protection businesses.
An L&G spokeswoman has confirmed that the appointments have taken place.
