Rutherford Wilkinson, based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, has become the sixth firm to come under the PFG umbrella, whose chief executive is Paradigm Partners senior partner Paul Hogarth.
Rutherford Wilkinson, which has 16 advisers advising on £150m of funds, will trade under its current name with all the existing management team continuing to operate and develop the business.
PFG managing director Damian Keeling says the acquisition demonstrates the consolidator’s “serious intent and the growing strength of the group in the IFA sector”.
He says: “This particular purchase is key for Perspective due to the fact Rutherford Wilkinson is such a well-respected, successful firm with considerable financial strength. By bringing the firm under the Perspective umbrella we have also greatly enhanced Perspective’s geographical spread into the North East of the country.
“This is just the start of our ambitious plans for Perspective and our ongoing goal to create one of the strongest IFA Groups in the UK.”
According to Keeling the group is currently “in discussions or finalising acquisition details with a further four firms and funding is already in place to make at least eight acquisitions during 2009”.
Rutherford Wilkinson senior director Peter Rutherford says the firm will now have access to PFG’s “variety of back-office services including cutting-edge technology, compliance services and a range of marketing opportunities”.
