Threadneedle has promoted Leigh Harrison to head of equities and bolstered the UK desk with the appointment of fund managers Simon Brazier, Richard Colwell and James Thorne.
Brazier joins from Schroders as co-head of UK equities alongside Harrison while Colwell joins from Aviva and will work closely with Harrison on the UK income range. Thorne joins from Barings as a fund manager to boost the UK smaller companies team. Fidelity European fund manager Tim McCarron is to leave the firm after 16 years. McCarron is taking a break from the industry, with management of the £3.5bn European fund passing to Sam Morse, who manages the moneybuilder growth fund. Rathbones has appointed Mike Webb as chief executive of its unit trust business. The former Invesco Perpetual chief executive officer replaces the retiring Peter Pearson Lund and will take on the role early next month. Webb has over 25 years’ experience in the retail funds market. He joins the firm from Hermes Fund Managers, where he was head of business development. Scottish Widows Investment Partnership has appointed Mark Connolly as director of fixed income. Connolly has over 30 years’ experience in the fixed income market and his most recent role was executive director for distribution and client services at Standard Life. He will have responsibility for the growth of the team and will report to Swip managing director Dean Buckley. Axa Framlington has chosen Dan Harlow as a portfolio manager in its UK equities team. He will work across the UK market cap spectrum but will work closely with Chris St John on the UK small-cap desk. Ignis Asset Management has appointed Chris Fellingham as chief invest- ment officer, fixed income. He will take overall respon-sibility for the group’s fixed income assets, which total about £50bn.
