New Star UK alpha fund manager Tim Steer is leaving the firm to join Artemis. Steer is to remain with New Star through its transition process with Henderson, which is set to conclude in April, and will continue to run both the UK alpha and hedge fund Gemini until then.

Meanwhile, global financials fund manager Guy de Blonay has agreed to join Henderson at the completion of the deal. De Blonay is to continue running his global financials fund with no further plans announced by Henderson at this stage.

Gartmore has appointed John Anderson as head of credit in the group’s fixed-income team. Anderson joins later this year after a six-month notice period with Rensburg Fund Management, where he has managed the corporate bond trust since 2000.

He will report to chief investment officer Dominic Rossi and will take on the management of Gartmore’s corporate bond, institutional corporate bond, high-yield corporate bond and Gartmore Sicav sterling corporate bond funds.

Matrix Group has appointed the Ansbacher Investment Management team, including chief investment officer Mike Hollings, Chris Woods, Neil Williams and Zoe Lito. The appointments correspond with the launch of Matrix Investment Management, which will focus on high-net- worth clients, charities and smaller institutions.
