Peter O’Donnell is to take over as president and chief executive of Unum UK, taking over from Jack McGarry, who is returning to the US to run the closed book business. O’Donnell was previously senior vice-president and chief financial officer. Stephen Harry is to be promoted from deputy CFO to CFO at Unum.

Former Old Mutual marketing director Simon Wilson is joining Premier Asset Management as marketing director. Wilson left Old Mutual I July as part of the merger with Skandia.

Penny Lovell has been appointed head of private client strategies at Close Brothers Asset Management. Lovell joins from Rothschilds, where she was managing director and senior client relationship manager.

Invesco Perpetual has appointed three members of the Standard Life Investments’ Global Absolute Return Strategies fund management team. David Millar, Dave Jubb and Richard Batty will join Invesco’s global multi-asset team. Absolute Return Global Bond Strategies fund manger Ian Pizer will join the GARS team in addition to his current role while Neil Richardson will assume responsibility for equity strategies within the absolute return strategies.

SLI head of overseas and global equities Lance Phillips is to join Legal & General Investment Management as head of active equities.

Sanlam UK finance director Stuart Geard has been appointed the new managing director of the firm. Geard is currently a non-executive director of Nucleus and takes up his new role in October.

The Personal Finance Society has elected Garry Hale as its next president. Hale is managing director of HK Wealth Managers Limited and takes over from Jon Everill.

David Thomas, joint managing director at Chadney Bulgin, has been elected vice-president, alongside Aim Two Three partner David Ingram, who retains his vice-presidency.
