Pensions Regulator takes show on road

The Pensions Regulator is hosting a series of launch events promoting changes introduced by the Pensions Act 2004, visiting Edin-burgh, Leeds, London, Birmingham, Cardiff and Belfast throughout June.

The roadshow will be open to trustees, actuaries, administrators and other advisers involved in running an occupational pension scheme, offering opportunities for industry professionals to find out about the new remit of the regulator.

From April 6, the Pensions Regulator will be established as the new regulator of work-based pensions, replacing Opra, which will cease to exist.

Topics include: an introduction and overview of the Pensions Regulator, codes of practice and the regulator’s relationship with the Pension Protection Fund.

Dates for roadshows include: June 14 – Edinburgh, June 16 – Leeds, June 21 – Birmingham, June 23 – London, June 28 – Cardiff, June 30 – Belfast. Venues are yet to be confirmed.

Pensions Regulator spokeswoman Jessica Goodwin says: “These events provide the opportunity to meet the regulator face to face and learn about the changes affecting pension professionals. Presen-tations and question and answer sessions will inform about the new powers of the regulator and how the regulator will better protect members’ benefits.”
