Pension Trustees&#39 condemn pensions green paper

Two pensions trustee organisations with strong trade union links have warned that the pensions green paper is a flawed document which will not achieve its objectives.

The Northern Pensions Resource Group and the Independent Pensions Research Group make the comments in a joint submission to the green paper.

They say that biggest defect is that fact the basic state pension will drop to a derisory level when compared to earnings and the second pension will be very limited with increases linked to prices and not earnings.

The groups claim this makes a nonsense of the statement in the Green Paper that &#39all pensioners will share in the prosperity of the nation.&#39
