Pension Credit Bill in Queen&#39s speech

The Pension Credit Bill looks set to make the statute book early this parliament, after being announced in the Queen&#39s speech today.

The Queen said: "The Pension Credit Bill is a key part of this Government&#39s commitment to help pensioners by ensuring that those who have saved for old age are, for the first time, rewarded for their thrift."

The pension credit will apply to savings of retired couples with a total income of less than £200 a week and single pensioners whose income is less than £135 a week.


No fees from Portman

Portman Building Society has introduced a two-year discounted rate mortgage that has no arrangement or early redemption fees.
