Pathways maps out a career structure

A career development programme for professionalism in financial services has launched with industrywide support.

The Pathways initiative has received the backing of Norwich Union, Zurich and Aegon, IFAs Momentum and Simply Biz and industry bodies Aifa, the Financial Services Skills Council, the LIA, Sofa and CII.

The purpose is to encourage and retain graduates and professionals in the financial services industry. The programme aims to provide a complete and portable career pack of information, guidance, tools and facilities for individuals.

Simply Biz chairman and Pathways steering group chairman Ken Davy says Pathways&#39 steering group has worked for two years in co-operation with its partners to define a clear career structure and support mechanism for financial services.

He says: “It is generally recognised that it is very difficult for people in financial services to see how a career can be structured and it is even more difficult for people thinking of joining the industry.”
