Online interviews show fund facts

Bates Investment Services has linked up with asset.tv for a series of online interviews with fund managers of key funds that it recommends to clients.

Bates senior investment adviser Paul Ilott believes this is the first time a UK intermediary firm has offered this service direct to the public.

He has conducted five-minute interviews with M&G recovery fund manager Tom Dobell and global basics manager Graham French, JP Morgan’s cautious total return fund manager Neil Nuttall and Schroders UK alpha plus manager Richard Buxton.

Ilott says interviews are being arranged with Black Rock MLIM’s Richard Plackett and Mark Lyttleton and Aegon’s Dave Roberts.

The interviews will be shown on batesonline.com.

Ilott says: “We are talking directly to consumers and not IFAs so the questions will be more fundamental and give investors a feel for what goes on at the fund behind the scenes. I will use everyday language that people can understand and the main areas will be how the fund is run, what stocks are held, what the risks are and what is unique about it.”
