On-line mortgage competition hots up

Money Supermarket is launching a new website aimed at directly competing with the on-line mortgage service provided by John Charcol.

The site claims it will offer consumers the chance to compare every single mortgage deal available.

Simon Nixon, a spokesman at Money Supermarket, said: “It compares very favourably with our main competitor John Charcol, which only has about 25 lenders to choose from.”

Charcol online managing director Toby Strauss, said: “We made a conscious decision not to include all lenders on the site as focus group research suggested people didn&#39t just want laundry lists.”
