The Hartford’s Mike Kalen went through hell and high water to get to a lunch meeting with a Money Marketing hack.
After taking off from Dublin airport, the cabin temperature dropped, oxygen masks came down and the pilot told passengers that the cabin had failed to pressurise on take-off.
The pilot was forced to make an emergency landing. Kalen patiently waited until a new plane was brought into service. This time, take-off went smoothly but when the plane was coming into land at London City airport, the same pilot from the previous flight announced that there were a few problems with the landing.
As the plane skidded to a bumpy halt, the wheels caught fire and emergency services surrounded the plane. None of the passengers was allowed off the plane until the fire had been extinguished.
Kalen remained remarkably unruffled throughout and made it to J Sheekey in plenty of time for his lunch with the suitably impressed MM reporter.
