OMGI’s Williamson to lead UK Smaller Companies Focus fund

Old Mutual Global Investors has promoted Nick Williamson to lead manager of its £136.7m UK Smaller Companies Focus fund, replacing Dan Nickols.

Williamson will keep his role as deputy manager of the £802.5m UK Smaller Companies fund, which will continue to be led by Nickols.

Williamson, who has been deputy manager of the two funds since January 2014, started working at OMGI in 2008 in various roles in the UK equity team.

Before then, he was a sell-side analyst for various firms, most recently at Citigroup.

Nickols says: “I have been working with Nick since he joined Old Mutual Global Investors in 2008. He has a great deal of stockmarket experience across a range of sectors and I am very pleased that we are able to offer this career development opportunity. This progression is entirely consistent with the team ethos of bringing on internally cultivated talent.”

Both the UK Smaller Companies Focus and the UK Smaller Companies funds invest primarily in an equity portfolio of UK smaller companies.

However, the offshore Old Mutual UK Smaller Companies Focus fund is slightly more concentrated than the onshore fund.
