Octopus expands multi-manager team

Octopus Investments has expanded its multi-manager team with the appointments of Oliver Wallin from North Investment Partners and Fiona McRobie from Aviva Investors.

Wallin joins Octopus as investment director, a role that involves developing and supporting the growth of the Octopus multi-manager business. He co-founded specialist multi-manager firm North Investment Partners in 2005 and has over 16 years investment experience gained at Henderson, Schroders and Fidelity.

McRobie, who previously worked at Morley Fund Management and Bakers Investment Group in Australia, is responsible for the risk and portfolio analysis on the Octopus multi-manager funds.

Octopus Investments chief investment officer Lothar Mentel says: “Oliver brings with him over 16 years of investment experience, with eight of them as a multi-manager specialist. His expertise and skills, gained as a co-founder and director at North Investment Partners, will be invaluable in maintaining our existing growth pattern and further developing our relationships with our clients.

“Fiona’s role will look specifically at portfolio risk across all our funds and her experience will be increasingly important as we expand the Octopus portfolio manager.”

Wallin says: “Octopus has a growing reputation for providing excellent service combined with quality products that provide strong returns. I am very much looking forward to working with Lothar and his team to ensure we continue to deliver the quality products and service the market has come to expect from Octopus.”
