Old Broad Street Research founder Richard Romer-Lee and former development director Nigel Whittingham have left Morningstar OBSR.

Romer-Lee was managing director of investment consulting operations in Europe for Morningstar OBSR, while Whittingham was managing director of Morningstar OBSR in the UK & Ireland.

Morningstar UK chief executive Geoff Balzano will lead the Morningstar OBSR business operations, while Hal Ratner, chief investment officer for Morningstar Investment Management in Europe, will lead business operations outside the UK.

Balzano says: “Richard and Nigel joined Morningstar when we acquired OBSR in early 2010. We have worked side by side to integrate and grow our consulting and research businesses in the UK and across Europe.

“We have a team of talented individuals on board, and are pleased that Richard and Nigel will stay with us during the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition for our clients. I have great respect for both of them and wish them the very best.”

Romer-Lee adds: “Now that the OBSR businesses have been integrated into Morningstar, Nigel and I recognise that it is time for us to take a break.

“We are incredibly proud of the work we have done to serve our clients and win business as part of Morningstar. We will continue to focus on client needs during this time of transition.’
