NU pension spokesman quits for consultancy role

Norwich Union director of pensions development Jerry Barnfield has left to take a senior pension administration role at consultant Hewitt Bacon & Woodrow.

Norwich Union will not comment on the reasons for Barnfield&#39s sudden departure from his role as chief pension spokesman for one of the UK&#39s biggest life companies to take on an admin role at HBW.

Barnfield had been off sick from Norwich Union for several weeks before his departure was announced.

Barnfield&#39s role at NU will be shared between Iain Oliver and Brian Bussell. Oliver will move from head of corporate pensions to head of pensions development, adding individual pensions to his role.

Head of pensions operations Bussell takes over Barnfield&#39s responsibilities for strategic issues surrounding pricecapped products.

Barnfield starts work for HBW in July.

Hewitt Bacon & Woodrow marketing director Colin Mayes says: “Jerry will be working as part of the team leading our pension administration business, which is an area where we are experiencing considerable growth and where we see future expansion.”

NU spokesman Ian Beggs says: “Jerry&#39s departure is a private matter between Norwich Union and him.”
