NPI widens scope of ethical with-profits

NPI is offering its pen-sion investors the opportunity to invest in its socially responsible with-profits fund.

The fund, which was laun ched as part of its investment bond range in October, will now be available from Feb ruary 1 on eight of NPI&#39s individual pension products.

The life office believes low-risk investors have had little choice in soc ially responsible investment products and have had to take extra risks or to sacrifice their prin ciples to invest in low-risk funds that are not socially responsible.

The NPI fund now accounts for 43 per cent of all the money inv ested in bonds.

The company says the socially responsible with-profits fund has the security of a standard withprofits fund but also a thematic investment style.

The fund aims to ach ieve long-term growth by investing only in com-panies which con tribute to sustainable economic development.

NPI customer marketing manager Dax Harkins says: “By making this fund available on pension products, it opens it up to even more investors who want to invest in a socially responsible way without investing in a higher-risk product.

“IFAs have told us that people who had not inv ested in SRI products bef ore but wanted to now were interested because of the lower-risk element.”
