A new private medical insurance company is moving into the intermediary market offering companies and individuals flexible product options.
Health-on-Line offers a Personal Choice plan for individuals which allows them to mix and match the benefits they require.
This includes in-patient and out-patient cover, a range of therapies, psychiatric treatment and other ancillary benefits. PMI premiums are based on the age of each individual member and a flat rate for each child.
The Company Choice plan offers four ways to arrange PMI. Company Paid, allows the employer to select cover on behalf of its employees. Company Assisted allows the employer to pay a fixed amount to the employee who then builds their own plan.
Under the Company Voluntary scheme, the employer promotes its plan at discounted rates. While the Employee Top-Ups plan allows staff to add more cover to the company's basic scheme.
Health-on-Line is underwritten by Great Lakes Reinsurance UK – a member of Munich Re.
The company's website, www.health-on-line.co.uk, is designed to provide all information needed before taking out a policy. It will also offer quotations and have a designated section for IFAs. Premiums start from £13 a month for basic cover and IFA commission is negotiable.
Health-on-line managing director Peter Dalby was previously co-founder and managing director of health insurer Prime Health.
Peter Dalby says: “The key thing for the customer is they can build their own plan rather than have cover selected for them and we offer good discounts for people with healthy lifestyles.
“Our internet presence is being developed as an information site but will become more interactive.
