New director of education at the IFP

The Institute of Financial Planning has announced the appointment of Lucy Courteney to the position of director of education.

Courteney previously worked for the FSSC as the standards and accreditation director, after her time at CII as qualifications director.

Association of Independent Financial Advisers deputy director general Fay Goddard says Courteney has a wealth of experience in the field of financial services education and professional development.

She says: “Financial Planners focus high on the agenda in the Retail Distribution Review and Lucy will be a tremendous asset to the Institute at this very crucial time.”

CFP Assessment Head of UK Paul Grainger says: “I am very pleased with Lucy’s appointment as director of education. She brings a wealth of experience in financial education and qualifications and can help to improve standards and services to our members and stakeholders. She will be a great addition to the team at the IFP.”

Tierful ending

The RDR document has been described as revolutionary. That it certainly is, but it is also deeply divisive. It is a product of flawed thinking, in fact a madcap scheme, a confused drawing, where few of the dots are joined up.
