New chairman and chief exec for BAM

Baring Asset Management has appointed David Brennan as chairman and chief executive.

Brennan is chief executive of BAM&#39s investment management group and his position will be taken by Peter Wolton who was head of retail at Schroders until 2001.

Wolton increased Schroders&#39 Tokyo-based asset management business to become the biggest foreign-owned adviser for pension funds in Japan.

Present chairman and chief executive John Bolsover is retiring in June after 27 years with BAM.

Bolsover says: “I will be sad to leave but we have planned this for some time. I have worked closely with David for many years and am confident that the transition to the new management team will be seamless.”

Brennan says: “We have benefited significantly from John&#39s leadership and counsel. He will be greatly missed. I am extremely pleased that Peter Wolton has agreed to join us and look forward to the expertise that he will bring.”

Friends Provident is offering an increased allocation of up to 2 per cent for new lump sum investments of £10,000 or more into its portfolio bond.The offer is open until June 30.
