Nationwide allows greater flexibility

The Nationwide is offering existing customers increased flexibility on its standard variable rate mortgages.

The building society is to allow SVR borrowers with loans up to 75 per cent loan to value, to over or underpay, take payment holidays and to borrow up to £3,000 in additional funds.

The move goes some way to offering the benefits of Flexible Mortgages to ordinary borrowers, but falls short of providing the flexible benefits offered by other lenders.
