National Savings £1.2bn sales in January

National Savings sold nearly £1.2bn worth of savings products in January this year, an increase of £389m over the same month last year when sales stood at £808m.

The sales are the highest amount since October 1998, when £1.204bn worth was sold.

The total amount of the range of products offered by National Savings has now reached £10bn for 2001.

Liabilities owed by National Savings to customers stood at £62.8bn at the end of January.
