Mortgages up 20% at SimplyBiz

Simply Biz saw mortgage business rise by 20 per cent in the first quarter of this year despite adverse market conditions.

Its mortgage club, Simply Biz Mortgages, increased total loan amounts by 20 per cent and applications by 19 per cent over the same period last year.

It processed 6,590 applications compared with 5,538 in the first quarter of 2007 and 5,290 in the last quarter of 2007. Total lending of £936m in the first quarter of this year compared with £780m in the same period last year and £740m in the last quarter of 2007.

Joint managing director Philip Holroyd says: “Member firms see the advantage of supporting their mortgage club and, as holistic advisers, are still able to satisfy clients’ needs and adapt to difficult times.”
