Mortgage customers &#39more financially aware&#39

More sophisticated customers is cited as the main reason for changes in the mortgage market in recent years, according to a survey by the Mortgage Code Compliance Board.

The survey, of 500 mortgage professionals, found 60 per cent believed more financially aware customers was the biggest change to the industry, while 30 per cent believe increasing confusion and complexity in the mortgage market was the key change.

The research shows professionals believe only 22 per cent of customers select mortgages based on lowest rates, with 46 per cent seeing terms and conditions of the loan as the most important factor.
