A self-employed financial adv-iser has changed his plea to guilty over a series of mortgage frauds.
Mohammed Khan, 46, from Knighton, Leicester, appeared before Leicester Crown Court on multiple deception and dishonesty charges. The prosecution had estimated the amount involved was over £250,000.
Evidence was given that Khan had repeatedly misrepresented his financial and personal status to gain mortgage offers. The court heard he had obtained mortgages for properties by fraudulent means over a number of years. The offences came to light when Khan got into financial difficulties and could not keep up mortgage repayments.
Khan had pleaded not guilty to the full range of 26 charges at earlier hearings but at the beginning of the trial it was announced that he would plead guilty to six of the charges.
The case was adjourned until April when Khan will be sentenced following reports.
