Newton Investment Management has appointed Harry Morgan as head of its private client business in Scotland.
Morgan was formerly director and head of Edinburgh Fund Managers' private client arm, where he doubled assets under management to £300m in the five years to his departure at the end of 2002.
He will have the task of performing a similar feat at Newton's private investment management division, which has £4bn under management, with £400m-£500m to be overseen by Morgan. He says he expects to grow that amount substantially.
Newton has also appointed Peter Henderson as a fund manager in its charities team. He joins from Cazenove, where he had been head of charities since 1995.
Morgan says: “I have been very impressed with the company and the way it is so foc-used on its investment process. It does exactly what it says on the tin.”
Newton Private Investment Management managing director Mark Rayward says: “These arrivals underline Newton's long-term commitment to growing our share of the UK private client and charities asset management market.”
