National advice firm Moneygate has appointed former Lighthouse executive chairman David Hickey as chairman.

Hickey, who left Lighthouse in August last year after the firm’s failed attempt to delist from the Aim stock exchange, took on the role on 1 September.

He joins Moneygate following a significant rebranding exercise which saw its customer facing IFA and investment management operations renamed as Fairstone Financial Management and Marketstar Investment Management, respectively.

Hickey says: “Moneygate has credible plans to create a national and trusted financial services organisation built around a modern and exciting advisory platform. I feel I have arrived at the perfect time to help the team capitalise on their already significant and impressive achievements.

“We have dedicated three months of hard work towards developing a detailed strategy that we are confident will put us in the perfect position to grow Fairstone and Marketstar into brand names in the UK.”
