MLP offers buyout deal with complaint handling service

Adviser firm MLP is offering retiring IFAs an acquisition package where it buys their client base and offers a complaint handling service for any future claims.

Managing director Paolo Standerwick says that any complaints against the retired adviser will be handled by former Financial Ombudsman Service adjudicator Jane Saunders who is working in partnership with the company.

Standerwick says: “Under normal circumstances, once a business has stopped trading, all renewals from product providers will cease. With the MLP package, not only will renewals be passed on to the retiring director/partner but MLP will also offer a complaint handling service.”

Standerwick says that Saunders’ experience at the FOS makes her invaluable to retiring IFAs.

He says: “Part of MLP’s package is to offer retiring IFAs the benefit of having complaints dealt with by Jane Saunders once they have passed their client base to MLP. This means that any complaints which may normally land in the lap of retired IFAs will be handled by an expert.”
