Millfield picks Beeston to replace Carby

Millfield has appointed Bryan Beeston as group sales director following last week’s shock resignation by Keith Carby.

Beeston, previously business development director at Millfield, takes the role that Carby vacated when he quit following a boardroom row last week.

Carby was chairman and chief executive of Inter-Alliance before it merged with Millfield in October. Board member Michael Burne also quit at the same time. Burne said he was leaving to pursue “fresh opportunities”.

Millfield has unveiled a new board consisting of two executive and four non-executive directors. Paul Tebbutt stays as chief executive and Harry Roome as finance director. Richard Mansell-Jones is non-executive chairman while David Stockdale, Tom Morton and Mike Walmsley are all non-executive directors.

The firm is undergoing a programme of cost savings that should amount to around 5m and is repaying loans of £15m from product providers for the merger with Inter-Alliance.

Mortgage Intelligence managing director Sally Laker trained as a ballet teacher but instead she leapt into the maelstrom of the mortgage business.
