Midshires links up with L&G for cover deal

Birmingham Midshires is to refer its mortgage custo-mers exclusively to Legal & General for insurance pro-ducts from spring next year.

The two companies have entered into a new partnership which will mean that Midshires&#39 customers will be referred to an L&G insurance consultant who will explain the range of cover available. Products will include life insurance, household insurance and accident, sickness and unemployment cover.

L&G&#39s technology solution, online term assur-ance, will be used, enabling details to be taken over the phone.

L&G group director (UK operations) Robin Phipps says: “Not only can we provide market-leading, valuefor-money mortgage insurance policies but we have also worked hard to dev-elop phone and web-based technologies which make the process quick and simple for customers.

“We are delighted to be working with Birmingham Midshires as they cont-inue their very impressive growth as a key business division within the HBOS group.”

Birmingham Midshires managing director Dan Watkins says: “This agreement will enable us to focus on our very successful core mortgage and savings business while giving our customers access to a wide range of competitive insurance products.

“Legal & General&#39s internet and telephone technology will ensure that our customers receive an efficient and reliable service.”
