Merrill Lynch offers discount protection

Merrill Lynch has become the latest firm to introduce a discount protection
mechanism. The new policy means investors in the Merrill Lynch greater Europe
investment trust clients will be able to sell back their shares at a 2 per cent discount of net value twice a year regardless of whether the shares are selling for a bigger discount in the market.
