Merchant Capital launches Ucits III hedge fund service

Merchant Capital has launched a service to assess the suitability of hedge funds for the Ucits III format.

The Ucits Strategy Assessment/Feasibility Execution (SAFE) facility will be supported by Carne Global Financial Services, which will assess the suitability of a strategy’s market exposures alongside Merchant.

Kinetic Partners will assess whether its value at risk (VaR) is appropriate for the sophisticated Ucits format. The format has attracted controversy as it has no upper limit on leverage. (article continues below)

The service is the latest product of the ‘Newcits’ trend, which has seen hedge funds launch Ucits III versions of their strategies after less regulated versions lost liquidity, assets and money over the past two years.
