McFall attacks Lloyds chiefs for C&G job loss leak

Treasury Select Committee chairman John McFall MP has slammed Lloyds Banking Group chief executive Eric Daniels for allowing staff to be made aware of job cuts in the press before being told by the bank.

Lloyds Banking Group today revealed its long-awaited brand restructure that will mean primarily a scrapping of its 164 Cheltenham & Gloucester branches. The group says the whole restructure will cost 1,660 jobs.

McFall writes: “Those at risk of losing their jobs should be treated with the utmost courtesy. I was therefore extremely disappointed to note that Lloyds Banking Group staff members appear to have found out from the media, rather than their managers, that their particular jobs were at risk.

“This would be undesirable in any firm; it is unacceptable in a firm partially owned by the taxpayer.”

McFall also warned Daniels to make sure all affected staff would find out about any future job cuts from a Lloyds manager, and not the press.

  1. McFall attacks Lloyds chiefs for C&G job loss leak
I don’t think that Lloyds bosses can be blamed for this being leaked to the press before staff found out. I’m sure it wasn’t in their roll out plans!

  2. McFall
McFall is a complete and utter idot who takes any opportunity to slam teh banking industry. Has he made public all his personal claims / expenses yet to prove he is whiter than white or another MP with his snout in the public trough…..
