Mattison quits James Hay

James Hay business development director Richard Mattison has quit the Sipp firm.

A spokesman says he has left to “pursue interests elsewhere”.

Mattison joined Pensions Associates in 1993, which became the IPS Partnership in 2008. He became business development director of both James Hay and IPS after IPS parent company IFG Group bought the pension firm.

Mattison’s exit follows a period of uncertainty at IFG. Earlier this month, James Hay’s parent company confirmed it was in talks with private equity firm Bregal Capital over an acquisition worth £205m but talks broke down this week.

Managing director Tim Sargisson says: “Richard has made an invaluable contribution to the business and we wish him all the very best for the future.”

Intelligent Pensions technical director David Trenner says: “We are slightly surprised at the timing of Richard’s departure, given the recent developments at the wider IFG Group level.”
