Majority of employers to contribute to stakeholder

Employees look set to benefit from the introduction of stakeholder as 60 per cent of employers who intend to offer a stakeholder scheme say they will contribute into the pension plan, according to research for Legal & General.

The research, carried out by Taylor Nelson Sofres, also shows that 22 per cent of firms employing less than five staff will offer access to a stakeholder pension.

L&G pensions strategy director Adrian Boulding says: “The research demonstrates the importance attached to pensions in terms of staff recruitment and a general willingness among employers to help staff get a good deal on pension planning.”
