M-Link in net deal with big life firms

M-Link, the e-trading portal for IFAs from software giant Misys, has enlisted seven more of the UK&#39s biggest life offices to offer products online.

M-Link says it is in the final testing phase with Norwich Union, Standard Life, Clerical Medical, Legal & General, Prudential, Scottish Provident and Sterling.

Friends Provident is making its investment bond available on the service and Royal & Sun Alliance is to add more products. Scottish Widows, Zurich Life and Skandia are also set to join M-Link, which will bring the number of providers to 20.

Those already on board include Axa Sun Life, Scottish Amicable, Scottish Equitable, Swiss Life and NPI.

M-Link head of provider relations Hazel Hodge says: “We promised at the M-Link launch in May that we would be bringing more key players on to the system by the end of the year. IFAs are benefiting from a comparative quotes system that lets them do their job more easily.”

PG Finch & Co partner Paul Finch says: “With more providers, M-Link could be a potent challenge to rival portals. Getting more providers on board is a step in the right direction but they have got to make more products available and create some interactivity to enable IFAs to personalise quotes. At the mom- ent, you can&#39t alter terms on commission. So even if they have all providers available, it isn&#39t much good for the discerning IFA.”
