Poor old Mail on Sunday finance hack Richard “Disco” Dyson was nearly left high and dry by his cunning rivals on Wednesday’s Money Mail.

Richard, unaware that a lunchtime bash was at a hotel a stone’s throw from the Mail offices in Kensing-ton, waited patiently outside for a cab after being told one was ordered in his name. It was only after a 15-minute wait that the other hacks, who had walked to the lunch, called to find starving Richard still waiting outside and told him of the prank.
