Liontrust, Close and Rathbones join forces

Close Fund Management, Liontrust Investment Funds and Rathbones Unit Trust Managers are joining forces to deliver the message that “small is beautiful” in the investment world.

The three boutique investment houses will host an IFA presentation together for the first time in London on Feb ruary 16 under the slogan: “It&#39s not our size that counts, it&#39s our performance.”

The conference will be chaired by HSBC chief technical strategist Robin Griffiths at Grocers&#39 Hall in Princes Street.

It will include presentations by each of the three respective managing directors – Close&#39s Marc Gordon, Liontrust&#39s Nigel Legge and Rathbone&#39s Peter Pearson Lund – as well as fund managers from each of the groups.

Pearson Lund says: “There are a number of smaller inv estment management companies operating in the unit trust market that have produced some excellent returns for investors in recent years.

“There is a tendency, however, for their performance to be overlooked by investors as the larger groups, with all their advertising and marketing muscle, try to dominate investors and advisers.

“We believe that, together, we can take the larger players on at their own game, creating a groundswell of support for the small managers while exposing the mediocrity of many larger companies.”
